George C. Thomas Invitational Final Recap: Andrew Price Pulls Away for Victory at LACC

Andrew Price closed with a 1-under 69 to win the George C. Thomas Invitational at Los Angeles Country Club, finishing at 3-over 214.

Andrew Price of Conway Farms closed with a 1-under 69 to win the George C. Thomas Invitational at Los Angeles Country Club, finishing at 3-over 214 for the week. The 2024 Crump Cup champion looked like he might let it slip after a bogey on 16, but he holed out for birdie from a bunker left of 17 to move one ahead heading to the final hole. Cavaliere of Hudson National made a closing birdie on 18 to create drama, but Price retained his one-shot lead by drilling a six-footer for par to seal the victory. Cavaliere also fired a final-round 69 to finish solo second at 4-over. Cavaliere, who runs the popular golf brand Tremont, has been one of the most consistent mid-am competitors on the circuit this season. Charlie Holland of Lakewood Country Club matched them with a 69 of his own to claim third at 6-over.

Co-leader Jack Barber faded with a 75 to drop into a five-way tie for fifth at 9-over alongside Will Davenport, Mark Costanza, Michael Buttacavoli, and LACC member Jon Shaw. Round 1 leader Stephen Hale struggled to a final-round 73 after an 81 on Friday, finishing T12. Nick Geyer held onto solo fourth at 8-over. The mid-am calendar slows down in July with no major events on the schedule, but midamgolfHQ will be back in August with coverage from the Picard Cup.
