In the morning quarterfinals, 16-seed Cavaliere and Minerva Jr. of Hudson National pulled off the day's biggest upset, knocking off top-seeded medalists Goldstein and Buttacavoli of La Gorce 1 up. Albers and McGhee of Mission Hills also advanced with a 1-up win over Larkin Jr. and Whitehead of Belle Meade, while Hegarty and Loomis (the Winged Foot home team) dispatched the Leon brothers of Shady Oaks 2&1 and Sigler and Cassini of Atlanta Athletic Club edged Day and Huntley of Country Club of North Carolina 1 up.
