Trans-Miss Mid-Amateur Championship Preview: Briscoe Returns to Defend at Lakewood CC
Ben Briscoe returns to defend his Mid-Master title at Lakewood Country Club as a 78-player field competes for two WAGR-ranked championships.
The Trans-Miss Mid-Amateur Championship brings 78 players to Lakewood Country Club in Lakewood, Colo., for 54 holes of stroke play Sept. 13-16. The field competes across two divisions: Mid-Master (40 and older, handicap index of 5.0 or less) and Mid-Amateur (25 and older, 4.0 or less), with each awarding a separate champion and WAGR points to top finishers. Ben Briscoe of Rancho Mission Viejo, Calif., returns to defend the Mid-Master title he won last year at Rancho Santa Fe, where he posted 67-68-74 to finish at 7-under and win by five shots over Haymes Snedeker of Daphne, Ala. Snedeker has had a strong 2026 campaign highlighted by a T36 finish at the U.S. Senior Open at Scioto, where he earned low-amateur honors, and a win at the Alabama State Senior Amateur. Ryan Terry of Brentwood, Tenn., the 2025 Tennessee Mid-Amateur Player of the Year and winner of the CC of Birmingham National Invitational, was the runner-up in last year's Mid-Amateur division and will look to go one better.
Coy Dobson of Austin, Texas, arrives in form after a dominant five-shot victory at the 2026 Texas South Mid-Amateur, while Cameron Crawford of Cedar Hills, Utah, reached the final of the 128th Utah State Amateur and won the Art City Amateur earlier this summer.
