Kitt and Kim-Schaad Win Farrell Championships on Rainy Sunday at Stanwich

Ireland's David Kitt wins the men's title 3 and 1 over John Lazor while medalist Ina Kim-Schaad completes a wire-to-wire women's championship at The Stanwich Club.

Ireland's David Kitt of Athery Golf Club captured the men's mid-amateur title at the 5th Farrell with a 3 and 1 victory over John Lazor of Oyster Harbors Club in Sunday's final at The Stanwich Club. Kitt, competing in his first Farrell, dominated all weekend after earning the 4 seed in qualifying with a 1-under 71. He defeated Thomas McCarthy 4 and 3 in the semifinal before closing out Lazor with a birdie on the par-4 15th. Ina Kim-Schaad of Deepdale, who earned medalist honors in qualifying with a 3-under 69, completed a wire-to-wire performance by defeating defending champion Lauren Greenlief 3 and 2 in the women's final. The two-time U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur champion (2019, 2025) built a 2-up lead at the turn and closed out the match on the par-3 16th. Kim-Schaad reached the final after beating 2023 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur champion Kimberly Dinh 4 and 3 in the semifinal, while Greenlief, the 2015 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur champion, held off Corinna Limbocker 2 and 1. In the senior division, Ned Zachar of GlenArbor Golf Club edged Bob Beck of Lehigh Country Club 1 up in an 18-hole match that saw the lead change hands multiple times on the back nine. midamgolfHQ congratulates all three Farrell champions and will continue covering the mid-amateur season through the fall.
