Brett Patterson Holds On at Kinloch to Win the 2nd Giles Invitational
Brett Patterson closes a 1-under 71 to win the 2nd Annual Giles Invitational by one shot at 7-under, holding off a furious final-round charge from Sam Beach (closing 67) and Stephen Behr.
Brett Patterson is the 2nd Annual Giles Invitational champion. Patterson, who entered the week ranked No. 20 in the AmateurGolfInfo Mid-Am rankings, posted a 1-under 71 on Sunday at Kinloch to finish at 7-under 209 and win by a single shot. The win marks his second of the young 2026 season after he took the Snedeker Memorial in a playoff earlier this spring, making him arguably the hottest mid-amateur in the country right now. The closing round at Kinloch was anything but quiet. Sam Beach fired the round of the day, a 5-under 67, to climb from T7 entering the day all the way to a tie for second at 6-under, finishing one stroke shy of the title. He shares that runner-up spot with Stephen Behr (73-67-70), whose Saturday 67 had vaulted him into contention and whose steady 70 on Sunday kept him within reach until the very end. Three back at 4-under is a tie between former U.S. Mid-Amateur champion Scott Harvey and 36-hole co-leader Matt Vogt, who recovered from his middle-round 75 with a closing 72.
Four players ended the week at 1-under 215 in a tie for sixth: Ryan Terry, Evan Beck, our pick Christian Cavaliere, who held steady all week with 72-71-72, and Christian Brand, who closed with a 3-under 69. Will Davenport, Brinson Paolini, Matt Lowe (also closing with a 69 to climb back from T19), and Brad Nurski all finished even-par at 216 in a tie for tenth. Nate Smith finished T18 at 4-over after recovering from his opening 78 with a 69-73 weekend. Patterson's win caps off a strong second edition of the Giles, which drew a deeper top-tier of mid-amateur talent than year one and produced a finish that came down to the back nine on Sunday.
